我在悉尼大学和澳大利亚国立大学接受了地质学家的培训，1988年获得了同位素地球化学博士学位。在加拿大西安大略大学完成博士后研究后，我回到澳大利亚，在澳大利亚国立大学地球科学研究学院担任研究员、ARC伊丽莎白女王二世研究员和研究员。

2000年，我在新加坡担任副教授，2004年，我转任苏格兰圣安德鲁斯大学环境变化系主任。2009年2月，我回到澳大利亚，在詹姆斯库克大学(凯恩斯校区)的地球与环境科学学院接受ARC联合会奖学金。2014-2019年，我获得ARC桂冠奖学金，现在是科学与工程学院的特聘教授。
